Alain Cousin is a contemporary French artist whose work is deeply influenced by his early childhood in Africa. Growing up amidst the untamed vibrancy of lianas, vegetation, and an unstoppable natural world, these formative years left an indelible mark on his artistic vision. Upon returning to , Alain buried this past and pursued a more conventional path, earning a baccalaureate in plastic arts before studying law and building a career as a senior civil servant serving the State.
Despite consistently painting throughout his life, a transformative encounter with Mr. Bernard Magrez in Bordeaux reignited Alain's ion for art. This pivotal moment prompted him to leave his established career and dedicate himself entirely to his first love: artistic creation.
Alain’s work explores themes of identity and belonging, reflecting his quest to reconcile his African roots with his Western experiences. His art serves as a dialogue between these two worlds, uncovering what was long buried and making it visible through the interplay of forms, colors, and poetic thought.
