Glossy finish

Le Pommier à Orsay
Les peintres amateurs fréquentent l’atelier du pommier de Saint-Clair tout d’abord comme une forme de loisir. Ils s’initient, se perfectionnent à la peinture acrylique avec Pierre Marcel, tout au long de l’année. L’un des exercices d’expérimentation est, une fois pas an, de copier des tableaux de maîtres : choisir une œuvre connue, puis l’interpréter en introduisant un concept commun à tous. L’année dernière, ce fut à l’occasion du concours organisé par le Parc naturel du Vexin français : l’art et l’arbre. Cette année, c’est une colombe de la paix, prétexte à une exposition avec les jeunes du centre Croky de Bezons, des partenaires qui cultivent un jardin potager puis donnent ensuite les légumes récoltés aux bénéficiaires du Secours populaire.
L’atelier du Pommier s’est donc rendu au musée d’Orsay, avec un guide pour rencontrer et étudier les œuvres de leurs peintres préférés. Une bonne cinquantaine d’adultes et quelques jeunes enfants ont découvert les aspects de cette histoire de l’art, dont les peintres impressionnistes, visiteurs du Vexin, ont été les acteurs principaux : Pissarro, Cézanne, Monet, Van Gogh sont les principaux. Tous les peintres en herbe ont apprécié cette sortie qui fut un grand pas dans la connaissance de l’histoire de la peinture du XIXe siècle. Lors de la photo de famille, devant les portes du musée parisien, de nombreux touristes n’ont pas hésité à « shooter » cette mosaïque de tableau inspirés de toiles de maîtres, avant d’aller visiter les originaux…

Pierre Marcel SCHMIDT, also known as Applestrophe, is an international painter specializing in ecological art. Born 35 years ago, he became an “ambassador of ” through his works focused on love and apples. His artistic journey took him to Miami Beach, Florida, where he left his mark in the heart of the historic Art-Deco district.
During his career, Pierre Marcel Schmidt has maintained a close link with three French regions, where he creates daily: Île de , Normandy and Picardy. In addition, he devoted each summer to the study of the South of , in particular Saint-Cyr-sur-Mer.
His professional career is rich in notable achievements. In the 1970s and 1980s, he began his career as a screen printer, then became a decorator, running a business with up to ten employees. His work consisted of beautifying Parisian restaurants and cinemas while promoting environmental protection.
From 1986 to 2005, Pierre Marcel Schmidt became an international decorator under the name Pierre Marcel, working in the United States, in Miami, Florida, with the company "Subject to Change". He contributed to the preservation and renovation of the Art-Deco area of Miami Beach, decorating stores, private and public spaces, as well as commissioned municipal murals. For seven years, from 1991 to 1998, he traveled to Moscow as an official American expert to create the scenery for the first tourist attractions and the new Moscow City Hall, while helping to train Russian students in trades of official decorators.
In 2001, Pierre Marcel Schmidt returned to , this time as an ecological painter. He lives in Guerny, in Eure, where he works publicly to promote the Vexin Français Regional Natural Park. Since 2003, he has created daily artistic works in public art at the Salle du Prieuré in Saint-Clair-sur-Epte, a village linked to the history of the creation of Normandy during the peace treaty of 911 with the Vikings.
From 2013 to 2016, he also directed a workshop-gallery located in La Roche Guyon. Throughout his career, Pierre Marcel Schmidt, aka Applestrophe, has used art as a means of raising awareness of ecology and promoting French history and culture.
