Sharp, broken, and fragmented pieces of stained glass, mimicking shattered glass, symbolize violence and abuse. A vulnerable, delicate female figure stands behind the sharp edges of the glass, with colors chosen to reference bruises and contusions, all framed in a black frame with baroque ornamentation. The entire composition breathes with contrasts of smooth lines and sharp fragments.
Special attention should be given to the materials and techniques. Every element of the sculpture is handcrafted: the frame is individually made with a colored ganosis coating, the stained glass pieces are baked specifically for this artwork. The stained glass is created in the Tiffany technique, with additional copper reinforcement. The sculpture itself is covered with encaustic, using a restored technique based on Punic wax.

Armen Manukyan-Burovtsov was born in 1976 in the USSR in Leningrad into a family of architects and artists. He was always surrounded by creativity and people involved in art. After graduating from the Academy of Fine Arts in 2000, Armen left to work in Ireland, Dublin, where he was engaged in developing and deg public interiors. When he returned to Russia in 2002, he pursued a career in architecture and urban planning. Having designed for some of the biggest property developers in St Petersburg, his meteoric rise to the top of a large design organization at the age of 35, dealing with complex territory development from conception to realization, but architecture, and town planning, in particular, is a highly regulated activity. When it has become essential to create freely, without being constrained by the regulations and requirements of the client, then he has decided to start to be an artist.
