The background dominated by weathered concrete in blue tones reinforces the seriousness of the image. It is a symbol of the act of man and the degradation of the environment. The polar bear that clearly does not belong there is evidence of climate change.

THE BLUES is an exclusive artwork by db Waterman, full of symbolism, for people who care about the environment and are looking for a powerful visual story for the wall.

The original urban artwork "THE BLUES" is a large painting made with mixed media on canvas. A combination of acrylic paint, ink, pastel chalk and pencil is used.
This work is part of the series "Life Savers". Where children play the leading role in saving animals that lose their homes due to climate change. It is surrealistic modern art with a contemporary story in the unique style of db Waterman.

db Waterman is a contemporary Dutch artist. In her works she assembles original photography, assorted papers, acrylics, oil, charcoal, ink, and pencil. The variety of resources she is able to use has proved indispensable to her. The biggest challenge the collage medium posed was its unforgiving lack of transparency. Finding a way to replicate the effects of transparency afforded by paint, especially watercolors, was a large victory for the artist. The preparing labor shows through in her collages; layer upon layer of material remains visible in the finished pieces.

db Waterman believes that the body of her work is characterized by her skill for reinvention. Having always loved the appearance of weathered walls plastered with peeling paint and old posters, she revived this aesthetic with hopefully a keen and professional eye. The creative objective of her work is to “make something beautiful out of dilapidation.” Her tableaus explore the dissonance between old and new materials, intertwined in the most beautiful way possible to create dreamlike and melancholy images.
