Orange County, CA. I adopted him from Avian Underdogs and he was one of the first pigeons I ever took home. He was supposed to be a wife for one of the male pigeons I had rescued off the street, but he ended up marrying the other pigeon I had just adopted. By then I had fallen in love with him and kept him. Moose was diagnosed with mycobacteriosis a year after I got him.
He had always been susceptible to what we thought were respiratory infections, but mycobacteria was an entire different level of severity.
Because of the lengthy treatment time, the cost, and the lack of guarantee of remission, most people choose euthanasia when faced with this diagnosis. My vet and I decided to treat him. For the next year and a half, I medicated Moose 4x a day with a cocktail of 4 antibiotics and 2 pain meds. Within a few months of starting treatment, he blossomed into an entire new bird.
His hilarious and clumsy flirting, his boisterous personality and his obsession with peas won the hearts of many bird and non-bird people alike.
Moose made it through his treatments, but 2 months later he fell suddenly ill and ed away 24 hrs later. He was my soul bird and I think about him every day. He is inspiration for Moose’s Flock Pigeon and Dove Rescue, which is my way of honoring his legacy by helping as many pigeons and doves as I can.
RIP Caramel Thunder. You will never be forgotten. »

Elodie M. Richard was born in but with a complex heritage including Polish and Russian. Due to her father’s career in the Army her family had to regularly move and adapt to new locations in and abroad. Her life path as a child and adult is made of travels and regular changes of geographical locations, constantly balancing between feeling of loss, challenges and new life starts.

Unlike a superficial society that gets lost in ultra consumption, Elodie creates a refined, symbolic and meditative world around the broad notion of identity. She takes her inspirations from personal experiences but also current events and her connection to nature.
The artist currently lives in Central Florida with her husband (artist himself) and their small flock of 5 rescued pigeons.

This page shows an inventory of her work as a painter and illustrator since 2016 up to this current year.

Some of her artworks appear as sold, if interested in an art piece, please private message Elodie.
