In the Epic of Gilgamesh, gods create Enkidu, but his animalistic traits prevail. To reveal his humanity, a woman is tasked and succeeds. Today, I notice parallels in the union of man and woman, emphasizing the man's animalistic nature and the woman's ability to temper it. Titled "Metamorphosis," my composition employs metaphors and materials to depict two contrasting elements, illustrating the convergence of male and female energies.

Emre Aksu is a contemporary Turkish sculptor whose work reexamines themes of ontology and mythology, blending them with contemporary sociology. He completed his undergraduate studies in Sculpture Art, where he held his first group exhibition in 2014. Emre draws inspiration from art history and historical traces, exploring the concept of human existence across different geographies and reinterpreting it through a modern sociological lens.
His sculptures utilize diverse materials, including marble, metal, aluminum, wire, wood, and styrofoam, and range from realistic to abstract forms. Emre skillfully balances form and content by playing with the hardness or lightness of the materials he uses.
Throughout his career, Emre has worked as an assistant with master sculptors and participated in significant exhibitions, such as Prof. Rahmi Atalay's "Water Myths" and Mehmet Aksoy's "Özgecan Aslan Monument" and "X Pose" marble projects. In 2017, he pursued a master's degree in Sculpture Fine Arts, focusing his thesis on the relationship between art and politics.
Emre continued his production in Istanbul while also working in the film industry for nine years in various roles, including art director, set designer, and stage painter. In 2023, he relocated to Brussels, where he continues his sculptural work and participates in exhibitions across Europe, expanding his presence on international platforms.
