About the author 5b2w7
Scott Tetlow is a contemporary artist born in Rochdale, UK, in 1969. He developed a ion for art at a young age, and during his adolescence, while working as a roadie for punk bands, he spent his free time sketching punks and deg album covers. This body of work earned him a place at Cheltenham University, where he obtained a degree in fine arts.
In 2002, tragedy struck when his beloved studio was destroyed in a fire, resulting in the loss of all his artwork. Unable to continue both practically and emotionally, Scott turned to teaching, believing that his artistic career was now behind him.
In 2011, Scott relocated with his family to Verona, Italy, where he settled in an apartment directly above an art gallery. Inspired by the astonishing architecture surrounding him, he picked up his paintbrushes once again. With his ion reignited, he returned to England and built a studio in his garden, where he has continued to paint ever since.
While living in Taiwan, Scott studied calligraphy and discovered the elegance of this revered art form. He learned that Chinese calligraphy emphasizes two types of beauty: the obvious aesthetics and the hidden beauty—the soul and life of a figure. Influenced by the concept of “writing a painting,” Scott aimed for his works to tell their own stories, inviting viewers to engage with the energy within them. This exploration led him to develop his unique style, known as "scribble art."
