Jochen Cerny, originally from Düsseldorf, discovered his artistic abilities and his ion for photography at an early age. He owes this ion to his grandmother, a ionate black and white photographer with an exceptional sense, as well as to his father, who collaborated with renowned advertising photographers as a marketing consultant.
After finishing his law studies, he first tried his luck as a photographer, but eventually settled on a career as an investment banker in New York, London and Frankfurt.
His ion for the photographic art awakened in him, particularly inspired by an encounter with the world-renowned photographer Andreas Gursky, a friend from his youth. With this recognition, he made the decision to professionalize his ion and develop it through his own distinctive art form.
Jochen's artistic photography stands out from the well-known classic photography thanks to his "CMPB" technique which he developed and perfected himself. This technique combines various individual "digital post-production" processes to create a unique form of photographic art. Through conscious manipulations of colors, the object is altered in such a way as to suggest to the viewer that it evolves mainly in a colored space which directly influences its perception. However, the essence of the object is not alienated; the viewer should always recognize the fundamental characteristics of the photographed object.
Additionally, his more recent works begin to look more and more like abstract paintings as the exposure time and camera movement match and change the aperture. This form of "digital Photopainting" is unique among modern photographers, as abstract shapes and objects remain in the foreground. Existing objects, with their own artistic aesthetics, are transformed into new works of art.
"Color creates atmosphere": His images do not deliberately tell a "story" in the classical sense, but immerse the viewer in a color spectrum that has a positive effect on him.
