SELF-TAUGHT IONATE FASCINATED BY 19th CENTURY CUBIST PAINTERS
Painting is, for me, a means of expression that is both aesthetic and musical.
I try to achieve dynamics and movement in each of my paintings. My style is part of the Cubist movement and I try to work only on large formats. It is essentially a work in oil painting.
I seek harmony, the mixture of colors as well as the play of light and shadows.
My inspirations come from great artists such as W.Kandinsky, J.Gris or F.Léger.
Geometric shapes, circles and crosses appear in many of my paintings.
In a figurative way, I would say that my paintings are flattened music. A music that I am incapable of expressing with a guitar or a piano but which takes on meaning in painting.
Each new canvas begins with the desire to concretize an abstract idea, red triangles on a blue background, black and white stripes, a golden flash.
Starting a 130 x 130 cm canvas takes several months and relief only appears when the canvas has found its balance and I perceive the final result. Before that, the artist's work is nothing but worry, questioning and a lot of dissatisfaction.
My goal is for the person looking at the canvas to stay in front of it for several seconds and not get bored, for the colors to hit them like a slap in the face.
