Ludovic Sarmento was born in in 1979, in Pauillac, in the middle of the Médoc vineyards.
After studying at the Beaux-Arts in Bordeaux and then at the Faculty of Plastic Arts in the same city, he began a career as an Artistic Director in advertising. At the same time, he practiced photography as an autodidact, in a style that was already very personal, far from that of the images produced in his job as an r.
Over the years, the practice of photography has become more and more important in his life, to the point of becoming his main activity.
After a detour through reportage photography that led him to meet the albinos of Tanzania or the refugees of the Calais jungle, he focused on studio photography.
Still life and portraiture then became his two favorite subjects.
As for his nude photos, they are traversed, like the rest of his images, by a singular strangeness and an absence of concessions to any diktat of beauty which makes them particular and strong.
