Funny, ironic portrait of an evolved specimen of a gorilla dressed as a knight of the armed forces of an 18th-century animal army, posing in his uniform: a beautiful blue military uniform from the Napoleonic era.

A magnificent and bizarre close-up of the colonel of the sovereign Gorilla Beringei troops astride his faithful steed: a thoroughbred with dark brown fur.

Both animals depicted in this ironic and glorious image in the style of an oil painting have been protagonists of the clash between two armies of anthropomorphic creatures, which went down in history as the fabulous Battle of the Fierce Ones.

This conflict I am referring to, which lasted almost 15 weeks, saw the catastrophic extinction of a race of wild animals belonging to the second Army in service in the Chimpanzee Realm and the prevailing of the combined troops of Gorillas, Monkeys, and Orangutans from the territories unified under the rule of the King of the Jungle.

In this rare work of art, we can ire the beautiful purebred horse led by the amusing animal evolved from the fascinating military cap.

He, as the keen observer will have already noticed, symbolically holds the reins of his steed just as he knew how to lead his glorious soldiers to victory in those epic battles that served as a bloody bridge between the end of the 18th century and the next.

His gaze is almost obscured by the shadow of his hat...

Both subjects are facing the same direction, almost as if they were a single indistinct entity turning its gaze towards a single common goal... heading towards an equally shared destiny.

Oh, if we all could have witnessed that turning of the tides that saw his loyal allies arrive late in that last, fateful battle that saw him fall under the glint of a drawn saber against a dying enemy.

Oh, if our loquacious mouths could have spoken to him and warned him that ungrateful traitors were already scheming behind his back to thwart the realization of yet another military ambition while he toasted with them to the new, glorious mission.

History is now a thing already written, and the painting has made immortal the once-living remains of this mythical, unparalleled mountain warrior.

It is said that the composition of this painting was begun in the last hours of light on the day before the defeat of Chimpanzee Island, and that the last, rambling words spoken by him in a broken and subdued voice to a comrade, while the latter leaned forward and ed his head between his paws, were: '...if you happen to have any spare bananas left, throw one on my carcass too'

To you, therefore, we will turn our humble, dignified memory every time we ire this painting.

Divertente, ironico ritratto di evoluto esemplare di gorilla travestito da cavaliere delle forze armate di un esercito animale ottocentesco in posa con la sua divisa: una bellissima divisa blu militare dell'epoca napoleonica.

Primo piano magnifico e bizzarro del colonnello delle sovrane truppe dei Gorilla Beringei in sella al suo fedele destriero: un purosangue dal pelo castano scuro.

Ambedue gli animali dipinti in questa immagine ironica e gloriosa in stile pittura ad olio sono stati protagonisti dello scontro tra due eserciti di antropomorfi ato alla storia come la favolosa Battaglia dei Feroci.

Questo conflitto di cui vi sto accennando, durato quasi 15 settimane, vide la catastrofica estinzione di una razza di animali selvaggi facenti parte della seconda Armata in forza al Reame degli Scimpanzè ed il prevalere delle truppe aggregate di Gorilla, Scimmie e Orangotango dei territori unificati sotto il dominio del Re della Giungla.

In questa opera d'arte di rara bellezza possiamo ammirare il bellissimo cavallo di razza condotto dal buffo animale evolto dall'affascinante cappello d'ordinanza militare.

Egli, come l'osservatore acuto avrà già potuto notare, tiene simbolicamente le redini del suo destriero così come ha saputo condurre alla vittoria i suoi soldati gloriosi in quegli epici combattimenti che fecero da sanguinoso ponte di aggio tra la fine del XVIII secolo ed il successivo.

Il suo sguardo è quasi oscurato dall'ombra del suo cappello...

Ambedue i soggetti sono rivolti verso lo stessa direzione quasi fossero una unica entità indistinta che volge lo sguardo verso un unico obiettivo comune... diretti verso un altrettanto, condiviso, destino.

Oh, se noi tutti avessimo potuto ammirare quel capovolgimento delle sorti che vide i suoi fedeli alleati arrivare in ritardo in quell'ultimo, fatale combattimento che lo vide cadere sotto lo scintillio di una sciabola sfoderata contro un nemico morente.

Oh, se le nostre bocche loquaci avessero potuto parlargli e avvisarlo che infeli traditori stavano già tramando alle sue spalle per impedire la realizzazone di quell'ennesima ambizione militare quando brindava con loro alla nuova, gloriosa missione.

La storia è oramai cosa già scritta, e il quadro ha reso immortali le allora vive spoglie di questo mitico, ineguagliabile guerriero della montagna.

Si narra che la composizione di questo dipinto fu iniziato nelle ultime ore di luce del giorno precedente la sconfitta delle Chimpanzee Island e che le ultime, vaneggianti parole pronunciate da lui stesso con voce rotta e sommessa ad un suo commilitone mentre quest'ultimo, chinatosi di fronte, gli sorreggeva il capo fra le sue zampe furono: "...semmai vi avanzasse qualche banana di scorta, gettatene una anche sulla mia carcassa".

A te, dunque, noi, volgeremo il nostro umile, dignitoso ricordo ogni qualvolta ammireremo questo dipinto.
