POINTILLISM IN 3D

In the manner of divisionism, Philippe Fares used lancets of different colors to cover the surface of a cement sphere, twenty-five centimeters in diameter.
The tight, random and regular distribution of these makes it possible to obtain an effect of continuity between the colors, depending on the distance from which the object is observed.

The manufacturing principle is identical to the 3-Sphères work. This involves organizing colored points classified into seven categories extremely closely. These correspond to the main ranges of the visible spectrum of sunlight.

In a way, this process can evoke the technique of pointillism, initiated by Georges Seurat, but applied here, in three dimensions.
The colored points, thus assembled, cannot be discerned individually beyond a certain distance. They blend optically into each other.

The visual result obtained is purer than a discreet application of paint. In fact, the perceived mixture appears more contrasted, due to the relief of the color points arranged on the surface. This systemic option gives the work maximum saturation, power and beauty.

A COLORFUL REVOLUTION SOLID

Unlike most of Philippe Fares' sculptures, this piece does not have its own lighting. The visual artist considered that this solid color revolution was sufficient in itself.

Classic in design, the POLYCHROME display can be separated from the work and allows it to be installed on any flat surface.

Note that this sphere is rather small in size, compared to the sculptures that the visual artist usually creates. For Philippe Fares, this is about adapting to the space available in today's housing.
He indeed considers that his works must find their full place there, and be accessible to as many people as possible.

Philippe Fares is a contemporary French artist, whose journey has been profoundly shaped by diverse cultures and the interplay of art and science. His unique perspective, honed by a childhood spent in sub-Saharan Africa, is a testament to his early exposure to the world of art, particularly the influence of Primitive Arts. Returning to at the age of 16, Philippe embarked on a path that allowed him to cultivate his understanding of Western Arts while pursuing scientific studies.

Philippe Fares' artistic works are meticulously constructed using scientific methods and meticulous planning. His creations often feature a recurring tiling pattern, a meticulously balanced interplay with chance. This synthesis of meticulous design and the unpredictability of chance lends his works a dynamic and intriguing quality.

One of the defining features of Philippe's sculptures is his incorporation of light, whether through LED or Halogen sources. This infusion of light imbues each piece with a unique chromatic field, magnifying the contrast of the leading lines within the sculpture. Philippe understands that, in his art, what truly matters is the relationship between colors, dimensions, and positions. He views the proportion between the horizontal, the vertical, and the depth as a reflection of the three dimensions that envelop us, as well as the opposing forces that often govern life and space—the interplay between existence and non-existence, abundance and scarcity.
