Stop motion as a name that means "stopped movement", the technique consists of taking several photos of inanimate objects (such as clay dolls, for example) and placing them in sequence, in order to make our brain create the illusion of movement due to the differences in the position of the objects.
Technically, every movie is a sequence of stills that creates this illusion in our minds, but the stop motion technique refers to inanimate objects. In the early days of cinema, it was widely used by illusionist filmmakers, such as the Frenchman George Méliès, who used the technique to create impossible situations in his films, which at the time represented a unique artistic innovation.
