I try to make everyday objects more memorable through colour and design
I went to art college back in the 1970s, where I received a BA 1st (Hons) in Fine Art before completing an MA at the Royal College of Art in the film school. I then worked in film and video production and finally the education sector before early retirement.
The main influences on me, during my early days, were the artists being talked about in the 1970s, such as Jasper Johns, Robert Rauschenberg and Jim Dine. The New York scene seemed to combine and challenge what art, performance and film could be in a way that has left a permanent mark on my psyche. This cocktail of Pop Art imagery and Abstract Expressionist mark-making seems to be where I feel most comfortable.
The imagery I refer to in my work is autobiographical and has a backstory which is both personal and yet familiar to us all. It is where everyday objects seem to mean a lot.

My love of cooking is as intense as my love of artmaking. Over time I have delved in various cuisines from around the world. At the moment, I am ionate about Korean food, but I've been equally fanatical about Italian, Spanish and, of course, Indian. My images in this collection evoke memories, rather like a scrapbook, of times spent in other cultures.

Chair design has always fascinated me. Each version of something to sit on, changes through time and the materials that are used. Yet each one is made by a craftsperson and can be valued as an objet d'art. Personally I often see them as props in a film or play that add character to a scene. They want to tell you a story and often do.

My mum was a seamstress as I grew up so i was always surrounded by scraps of fabric, collections of buttons for recycling as well as sewing and knitting needles. For me, it's where engineering meets soft furnishings, where colour and textures intermingle and magic happens.
These gallery prints are glimpses of moments and memories that I with fondness.

I went to art college in London and still yearn to go back. It was still "swinging" when I was there, but I miss the galleries, art shops and museums. This short collection was helped by Cathi Rae, a poet and wordsmith, who stood in, for my many a moment, in the city's iconic tourist spots. Bold designs and striking colours.
Cathi Rae is a poet, spoken word artist, body positivity model and campaigner against ageism in the world of fashion.

My first experience of film photography was at art college. I loved using the chemicals as well as going in the darkroom to print pictures. I went on to film school but still enjoyed experimenting with film processing. I still collect and use old technology, so this section is a celebration of the part it has played in my life.
