Un voyage à New York en 2013 éclaire Vanessa sur sa pratique de la peinture à l’aquarelle. La géométrie, les lumières et les couleurs de cette mégapole l’inspire, jusqu’à réaliser de très grands formats. Vanessa utilise cette technique de peinture à l’eau dans un rendu contemporain, parfois proche de l'abstraction, toujours en transparence.
Elle peint les villes qu'elle visite et les paysages qui l'entourent. Vanessa transmet avec ion sa technique de peinture à l'aquarelle lors de stages dédiés dans son atelier en Haute-Savoie.
