Zhi Rong Song is a contemporary Chinese artist, born in 1981 in Shanghai. He is a graduate of the Department of Oil Painting at the Academy of Fine Arts, Shanghai Normal University, where he studied under Professor Xu Mangyao. Song is a member of the Shanghai Artists Association and currently serves as a lecturer in fine arts at the Xu Beihong Graduate School of Art, Shanghai Maritime University. In 2015, he was invited as a researcher to the Milan Academy of Fine Arts (NABA), further enriching his artistic expertise.
Song's work has been showcased in numerous exhibitions and has earned him significant accolades. In May 2024, his oil painting The Throne of Civilization won third prize in the international oil painting category of the "Titian International Portrait Painting & Sculpture Competition" in Italy. In November 2023, his painting White Moon Night was featured in the invitational exhibition of Shanghai higher education art works at the Shanghai Hongqiao Museum of Contemporary Art. Earlier that year, in May, two of his oil paintings were included in the "Today's Sea" invitational exhibition organized by the Shanghai Communist Party Department.
In April 2023, Song participated in the Prospecting for a Better World - Shanghai Artists U.S.-East Tour Exhibition, where five of his oil paintings and three watercolors were displayed in New York at the World Journal headquarters and Flushing City Hall. His work was also included in a December 2022 exhibition at the Shanghai Art Museum (Chinese Art Palace), organized by the Shanghai Artists Association. In August 2022, his oil painting Self-Portrait was featured in the Shanghai Oil Painting Exhibition held at the Chengdu Art Museum Shifa.
In addition to group exhibitions, Song has held solo exhibitions, including Under the Same Roof, a portrait painting exhibition in June 2021 at the Haiyun Above Art Gallery, ed by the Shanghai News Station of CCTV Painting and Calligraphy Channel. His artistic journey, marked by exceptional skill and dedication, reflects a mastery of oil painting and a commitment to blending traditional techniques with modern narratives. Zhi Rong Song continues to make significant contributions to the art world, both in China and internationally.
